Bartig Family Scholarship Fund for Ladysmith High School

This Fund was established as an endowment fund through the Rusk County Community Foundation in 2023. The purpose of this Fund is to provide scholarships for graduating seniors who have attended Ladysmith High School as Full-time students for two consecutive years and plan on attending a post-secondary education with a major in a health science field.

Who are the Bartigs?

Don and Bette Bartig moved to Ladysmith in 1991, Don as a pharmacist at Saint Mary’s Hospital and Bette as a medical technologist in the lab. The two continued as employees of Rusk County Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home and then Marshfield Clinic-Ladysmith Center. Don also served 6 years on the Ladysmith-Hawkins School Board, 4 of those years as School Board President.

Their two boys are graduates of Ladysmith High School. Jeff obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA at the University of Minnesota and then employed with Boston Scientific, specializing in the manufacturing of medical devices. Steve graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and was then employed with Marshfield Clinic as a Director of Pharmacy.

Criteria for this Scholarship

  • GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Attend a two-year or four-year post-secondary program in health sciences.
  • Demonstrate academic promise and scholastic ability.
  • Demonstrate leadership, citizenship, and community service qualities. 
  • Financial need of the scholarship candidates may be considered.
