The Rusk County Community Foundation (RCCF), created after an anonymous donor pledged substantial funding to support non-profit organizations throughout Rusk County, is gearing up for its first round of grant making in the fall of 2008. The RCCF board of directors is currently identifying the areas of greatest need in the county, and developing policies and procedures for applying for grants. Grants will be awarded to groups that will use the funds to provide charitable, educational, scientific, recreational and/or literary benefits to the greater Rusk County Community. If your group is interested in learning more about the RCCF and applying for grants, let them know who you are by filling out the survey located on the RCCF website, https://rccfwi.org.
As a community foundation, the RCCF maintains and grows permanent funds from which interest income is granted out into the community. Persons or businesses donating to the RCCF receive not only a tax break, but the knowledge that their donation will permanently remain in this community. Currently, pursuant to the anonymous donor’s generous gift, all donations (cash, stock, or real estate) will be matched at fifty cents to the dollar.
Donors who wish to create a named fund in memory of a loved one, a fund supporting a specific charity or interest (i.e. “local school” or “the arts”), or a scholarship fund, should contact the RCCF for more information. The RCCF strives to keep local money local, and to ensure that all gifts keep on giving.
